Job Type: Full Time/Permanent Minimum Education: You can spell your name and read a tape measure Education Requirements: Trade Certification in Carpentry or equivalent experience NOC Group: Carpenters (7271) NOC Job Title: Carpenter Job Location: Victoria, BC, Canada Job Description We are looking for an experienced carpenter to join our passionate team based on the relaxed and beautiful Vancouver Island, based out of Victoria, B.C. You would preferably have trade certification but we will consider comparable experience. Your job will include all aspects of construction from site preparation through to the finished product. NZ Builders is a custom home building construction firm focused on sustainable high-performance building. Characteristics we’re interested in: A keen interest in perfecting their craft Enjoys having a good time at work and wants to be part of a growing, energetic team A GC Attention to detail Duties include, but are not limited to: Reading blueprints/drawings/sketches and work from these without supervision. Proficient in using power and hand tools Accurately measure and calculate the size of material required Interior finishing Site prep Concrete formwork and flatwork Framing Siding Interior finishing Inspect homes and conduct necessary repairs and maintenance Ability to instruct, oversee and guide one apprentice Requirements Trade Certification. Equivalent experience will be considered on a case by case basis Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction Ability to use a computer and smartphone Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times Good knowledge of English Good understanding of basic math Good physical condition and endurance Enjoy dry humour and a good bit of banter, awards are given annually
