Aotearoa Surf School was founded in 2002 and was one of the founding surf schools in New Zealand. Aotearoa Surf is owned and operated by Che, a local surfer who has a devotion for all things related to the ocean. He has a passionate, experienced and qualified team of instructors from the local area who pride themselves on giving everyone the best experience and memories as possible. SURFING IS FOR EVERYONE We have a range of services to suit all ages and experience levels with everything from locally based kids camps, after school programs and holiday programs to overseas surf retreats for adults. We are also the preferred choice for large organisations and corporate events. WE’RE ECO-FRIENDLY Aotearoa is determined to help the environment through the use of eco-friendly products (e.g. sunscreen and wax), regular beach clean ups and the education of New Zealand’s youth on the importance and how to respect the natural environment. IT’S ALL ABOUT LOCATION! We operate out of the most beautiful beaches in the Auckland region, including Te Arai, Mangawhai, Orewa, Omaha, Pakiri and Waipu Cove. Our main two beaches, Te Arai and Mangawhai are just 60 minutes north of Auckland’s CBD. These beaches boast clear, blue waters and consistent, fun waves. You will be guaranteed the best, most consistent waves from Auckland to Whangarei when you surf with Aotearoa.
